Nourish for the body that does the heavy lifting: a deep dive into V.supple® Nourish botanical body oil

Why body skin after 40 feels drier, tighter and less forgiving

From about 40 onwards, most women notice that facial skincare is no longer the only story. Arms, shins, thighs, abdomen and buttocks can start to feel:

  • Rough or “crepey”
  • Itchy or tight after a shower
  • More easily marked by pressure from seams, socks or waistbands

Falling oestrogen contributes to a drop in collagen, lipids and natural moisturising factors in the skin, which increases dryness, fragility and sensitivity.

Layer on real life – hot showers, air conditioning, sport, friction from clothing, recovery from cancer treatment or weight change – and the body can quietly become one long dry zone.

For many women, body care has also been an afterthought for years. A quick, fragranced lotion on special occasions is not the same as a daily, barrier focused routine designed for midlife skin.

V.supple® Nourish was developed for exactly this gap.

What is V.supple® Nourish?

V.supple® Nourish is a lightweight botanical body oil designed for dry and delicate skin. It uses a blend of plant oils (jojoba, grapeseed, apricot kernel, olive and sunflower), certified organic cocoa butter, calming alpha bisabolol, vitamins C and E and arnica extract to support the barrier, provide antioxidant protection and leave a satin, non greasy finish.

Dry touch emollient esters (undecane, tridecane and isopentyl laurate) help the formula absorb quickly so you can dress without stickiness.

Nourish is:

  • Vegan friendly
  • Dermatologist tested
  • Free from sulphates, parabens, mineral oils and artificial colours

It is intended as a cosmeceutical body oil for general dryness and sensitivity, not as a treatment for medical skin disease.

The formulation architecture – how Nourish supports barrier comfort

1. Jojoba oil – sebum mimicking support

Jojoba is technically a liquid wax, rich in wax esters that closely resemble human sebum. This structure allows it to form a breathable, non greasy film that helps regulate moisture and supports the skin’s protective acid mantle.

In midlife, when natural lipid production declines, jojoba helps compensate without clogging pores.

2. Grapeseed, sunflower and olive oils – omega fatty acids for resilience

Grapeseed and sunflower oils are naturally high in linoleic acid, an omega 6 fatty acid involved in ceramide synthesis and barrier repair.

Olive oil contributes oleic acid and antioxidant polyphenols. Together, these oils:

  • Improve flexibility and softness
  • Help reduce transepidermal water loss
  • Offer antioxidant protection against environmental stress

3. Apricot kernel oil – cushioning for dry, mature skin

Apricot kernel oil is a light, fast absorbing emollient rich in oleic and linoleic acids and vitamins A and E.

It is often used for sensitive or mature skin because it:

  • Softens dry, rough areas
  • Supports the hydrolipidic film that limits water loss
  • Feels comforting without heaviness

4. Organic cocoa butter – occlusive cushion

Cocoa butter is a nutrient rich, occlusive emollient that melts at body temperature, helping to seal in moisture and soften rough texture.

In Nourish, it adds:

  • A cushioned, “skin hugging” feel
  • Support for very dry zones like elbows, shins and heels
  • Additional antioxidant polyphenols that help protect against environmental damage

5. Alpha bisabolol – calming signal

Alpha bisabolol is a component of chamomile with documented anti inflammatory and soothing effects on the skin. It helps to reduce redness and irritation and is often used in products for compromised or sensitive skin.

In a body oil for women who may be post radiotherapy, post surgery or experiencing friction related sensitivity, this calming signal matters.

6. Vitamins C and E – antioxidant partners

Vitamins C and E work together as a classic antioxidant pair. Vitamin E is lipid soluble and sits in the oil phase, helping to neutralise free radicals in cell membranes, while oil soluble forms of vitamin C can support brightness and an even tone.

For midlife skin frequently exposed to UV, heat and pollution, this combination helps limit oxidative stress that contributes to dullness and fine surface changes.

7. Arnica extract – comfort for overworked tissue

Arnica montana extract is traditionally used in topical products for localised aches and bruised feeling tissue. Evidence for clinical outcomes is mixed, but in well formulated cosmetics it is mainly used for a sensation of comfort.

Important safety notes:

  • Arnica should not be applied to broken or irritated skin
  • People with allergies to the Asteraceae (daisy) family should avoid it
  • It is for external use on intact skin only

Nourish uses arnica as one part of a broader soothing system, not as a medicinal treatment.

8. Dry touch ester system – comfortable finish, not a dusting of oil

Traditional body oils can leave a film that transfers onto clothing and bedding. The ester trio in Nourish (undecane, tridecane and isopentyl laurate) is used widely in modern formulations to give a light, fast absorbing, “non tacky” slip.

The result is a satin finish that works under clothes and in hot Australian weather.

Where Nourish fits in a 40 plus body care routine

Step 1 – Gentle cleanse

  • Use a low foaming, fragrance-free body wash or soap substitute.
  • Keep water warm, not hot, to reduce lipid stripping.

Step 2 – Apply Nourish on damp or dry skin

After showering:

  1. Pat skin so it is still slightly damp.
  2. Warm a few pumps of Nourish between your hands.
  3. Apply with broad, circular strokes, paying attention to shins, thighs, arms and any area that feels tight or rough.

For very dry areas, you can layer Nourish over a fragrance-free body lotion.

Step 3 – Friction aware dressing

Many women in midlife are dealing with chafing under bra bands, at waistbands and between the thighs. Nourish can be used:

  • Before dressing, to reduce surface roughness and improve glide
  • After a day in tight clothing, to restore comfort and softness

Always avoid direct application to areas of broken skin, active rashes or open wounds.

Who V.supple® Nourish may suit

Nourish was formulated with peri and post menopausal women front of mind, particularly those who:

  • Feel their body skin is dry, tight or easily irritated
  • Have reactive skin after cancer treatment, surgery or weight change
  • Prefer fragrance-free or very low fragrance products
  • Want a body oil that absorbs quickly without a greasy film

It can also be a useful option for anyone with generally dry or sensitive body skin who prefers botanical, antioxidant rich textures.

As always, if you have a diagnosed skin condition, are undergoing active cancer treatment or are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak with your treating team before introducing new products.

Storage, safety and how to get the best from Nourish

  • Store in a cool, dark place away from direct heat and sunlight
  • External use only
  • Avoid eyes and mucous membranes
  • Do not use on broken skin
  • Patch test on a small area before first use, especially if you have a history of skin allergies
  • Discontinue and seek advice if irritation occurs

Used daily, most women find that the cumulative effect of consistent lipid replenishment is a body that feels more comfortable in its own skin.
