V.supple® Argan Intensive

A closer look at how it works for stressed midlife hair

Why a midlife hair serum needs to do more than shine

By the time many women reach their 40s and 50s, their hair has already worked hard for decades.

Colouring, straightening, blow drying, swimming, outdoor sport and hormonal changes can leave even previously resilient hair looking:

  • Duller and less reflective
  • More prone to frizz and flyaways
  • Rougher through the mid lengths and ends
  • Easily weighed down by rich creams or oils

Perimenopause and menopause can also change the way hair behaves. Lower oestrogen and age related changes can alter sebum production and the hair fibre itself, so hair that once tolerated heavy products may now look limp or greasy very quickly.

V.supple® Argan Intensive was developed to target this specific intersection – hair that is:

  • Heat styled or coloured
  • Exposed to UV and daily environmental stress
  • In need of frizz reduction and heat protection
  • Yet still easily weighed down, especially if fine or prone to oiliness at the roots

The aim is not to promise transformation overnight, but to offer a featherlight, repeatable finishing step that helps protect the hair surface and improve cosmetic feel over time.

What is actually in V.supple® Argan Intensive

In simple terms, Argan Intensive is a high performance hair serum built on a breathable silicone base, enriched with:

  • Certified organic Argan oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Cape Rose Geranium essential oil
  • Vitamin E rich lipids

It is designed to:

  • Smooth and coat the cuticle surface
  • Improve slip through the mid lengths and ends
  • Reduce visible frizz and static
  • Help protect against thermal stress from styling tools

All of this is done without sulphates, parabens, mineral oils or artificial colours, and the formula is suitable for colour treated hair.

The base – why a silicone matrix is useful here

Silicones in haircare can be confusing, so it is worth being clear about what they are doing in this context.

V.supple® Argan Intensive uses a combination such as:

  • Cyclomethicone – a volatile, very light silicone that spreads easily and then evaporates, helping distribute oils thinly along the hair shaft.
  • Dimethicone crosspolymer – a cross linked silicone that forms a flexible, breathable film over the cuticle.

Together, these create a micro thin surface matrix around each hair fibre that:

  • Reduces friction between strands
  • Helps the cuticle lie flatter so it reflects light more evenly
  • Acts as a slip layer between the hair and brushes, combs and heated tools
  • Limits direct contact between the hair surface and environmental humidity

This is why a well formulated silicone serum can make the hair feel smoother and easier to manage without needing a heavy, oily coating.

For midlife hair that frizzes easily yet flattens with rich creams, this type of base offers a practical compromise – protection and slip with a light sensory footprint.

The oils – why argan and avocado

The lipid blend in Argan Intensive has been chosen for its fatty acid profile and antioxidant content rather than an aromatherapy story.

  • Argan oil
    • Rich in oleic and linoleic acids and natural tocopherols.
    • Helps condition the cuticle and add shine when distributed thinly along the hair shaft.
    • Provides an emollient cushion between silicones and the fibre surface.
  • Avocado oil
    • Contains oleic acid and other long chain fatty acids that support slip and softness.
    • Works well in low doses within a silicone system, improving combing and feel without turning heavy or waxy.

These oils sit within the silicone matrix, so they are not absorbed in large amounts into the hair. Instead they contribute to surface conditioning – helping the hair feel smoother, less rough to the touch and less prone to catching.

Scent profile – Cape Rose Geranium

Rather than heavy synthetic fragrance, Argan Intensive uses Cape Rose Geranium essential oil in a controlled level to create a light, joyful scent.

The aim is:

  • A brief application experience that feels pleasant and consistent with the V.supple brand
  • No lingering, overpowering perfume that competes with other products
  • Sensory comfort for those who prefer minimal fragrance

As with any essential oil containing product, the concentration and total exposure have been considered carefully. It is still advisable to patch test if you have a history of fragrance sensitivity.

How to use Argan Intensive for different hair types

Because midlife hair can be fine, dense, curly, straight or anything in between, application technique matters as much as the formula.

General method

  1. Place 1 pump in the hands (2 pumps if your hair is long or very damaged).
  2. Rub palms together to create a very thin film.
  3. Apply through mid lengths and ends only, avoiding the root area.
  4. Comb or brush through if desired.

On damp hair – for heat styling

  • After washing and towel drying, apply as above before blow drying.
  • This helps the brush glide more easily and provides a protective surface layer before direct heat is applied.
  • Fine hair: start with 1 pump and build only if needed.
  • Coarse, long or very damaged hair: 2 pumps may be tolerated without heaviness.

On dry hair – as a finishing step

  • Use a very small amount to smooth surface frizz and add shine after styling.
  • Concentrate on the last few centimetres of the hair where splitting and dryness are most visible.
  • Avoid repeated passes over the same area to prevent overload.

On curls and waves

  • Apply to damp hair and then scrunch upwards to define curl pattern.
  • Can be layered lightly over a curl cream or gel to add shine and reduce surface frizz.

If the hair starts to look lank or heavy, reduce the number of drops or reserve use for damp hair only.

Who Argan Intensive is designed for

V.supple® Argan Intensive is best suited to:

  • Women and men with heat styled, coloured or sun exposed hair that feels rough or frizzy through the lengths
  • Midlife hair that needs smoothing and protection without heavy waxes or oils
  • Fine to medium textures that usually collapse under rich masks, but tolerate light serums well
  • Colour treated hair where cuticles have been lifted and need surface protection

It is less ideal as a sole product for:

  • Very oily scalps where the main concern is sebum, rather than fibre damage
  • Very tight, coily hair types that often need richer butters or creams along the entire strand, not only a finishing serum
  • Situations where there is active scalp disease such as untreated seborrhoeic dermatitis or psoriasis – these require medical assessment

In all cases it is a cosmetic conditioning product, not a treatment for hair loss or scalp conditions.

Safety and sensible use

  • External use on hair only.
  • Avoid direct application to the scalp or face.
  • Patch test on a small section of hair and skin first if you are sensitive to fragranced products or essential oils.
  • Keep away from the eye area.
  • Discontinue use and seek advice if you experience persistent irritation.

If you are undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy to the scalp, or have complex scalp conditions, discuss any new hair products with your treating team before use.

Where this fits in a V.supple ritual

In a broader V.supple routine, Argan Intensive sits as:

  • The final step in a hair wash day ritual, after cleansing and conditioning
  • The daily finishing step for frizz control in humid weather
  • A support act for midlife confidence – making hair easier to style and more predictable, so there is one less friction point in the day

It does not replace a healthy scalp routine, balanced nutrition, or medical care where needed, but it can make your existing hair feel smoother, more polished and easier to live with.
