From Dr Tonia Mezzini, Founder and Clinical Director, V.supple
Summer can be a season of joy and also a season of overload for our skin. Many women feel blindsided when their skin suddenly becomes more reactive in midlife or after medical treatment. My hope with this Summer Skin Edit is that you feel informed, supported and a little more in control of what your skin is going through, from lashes to heels.
Thank you for being here and for caring for your skin in such a thoughtful way.

1. Your summer skin forecast

Summer is not just a tanning season. It is a stress test for barrier function from head to toe.
Common summer skin stresses include:
- More UV exposure which can show up as photo ageing, uneven tone and fragile collagen
- Heat and friction so intimate areas, underarms and inner thighs can feel irritated and chafed
- Chlorine and salt water which can strip natural lipids from skin and hair
- Frequent shaving or hair removal which may increase the risk of dryness and sensitivity
- Styling and sweat so scalps can feel tight, itchy or greasy while hair lengths become brittle
The answer is not a crowded bathroom shelf. It is a focused set of products that keep skin comfortable, soothed and hydrated without feeling heavy.
Myth vs fact: summer skin in midlife
Myth 1 – If my skin is shiny in summer I should skip moisturiser
Fact:
Shine from sweat is not the same as hydration. Sweat is mostly water and salts. Frequent sweating and cleansing can leave the surface dehydrated even if the T zone looks oily. Light emollients and facial oils help support the barrier so skin feels comfortable once the shine wears off.
Myth 2 – Only the face needs a summer routine
Fact:
Scalp, body and intimate skin often experience more friction, sweat and exposure than the face. A true summer ritual looks after all the places that carry you through the day, not only what is in view on video calls.
2. The Summer Comfort Ritual

A V.supple product edit
Think of this as your capsule wardrobe for summer comfort, built from the V.supple range.
Step 1 – Lashes and brows cushioned and conditioned
V.supple PureLash Conditioner
Coming very soon, V.supple PureLash Conditioner is a precision formulated botanical treatment oil that nourishes and conditions delicate lash and brow hairs from root to tip. It is created without silicones, synthetic fragrance, parabens or mineral oils, and is suitable for sensitive eyes, post cosmetic treatments, or periods where lashes feel brittle and sparse.
We are including PureLash in this Summer Skin Edit so you can already see where it will fit in your routine the moment it launches.
How to use in summer once available
- Each evening, apply a small amount to clean lashes and brows using the wand or fingertip
- Gently work along the roots and through the hair shaft
- In the morning, you can apply a very light layer under mascara as a conditioning base
Why it suits summer
- Helps keep lashes and brows feeling flexible after exposure to sun, salt water, makeup and repeated cleansing
- Macadamia based emollients give a smooth, light finish without heaviness
- Supports the look of soft, silky lashes and brows that frame the face, even when you are wearing less makeup over the warmer months
Avoid direct contact with the inner eye and follow the on pack instructions. Patch test prior to first use, especially after cosmetic or medical treatments.
Step 2 – Calm, radiant face
V.supple Radiance+
V.supple Radiance+ is a luminous facial oil with bakuchiol and prickly pear that supports tone, texture and elasticity while adding a soft, hydrated glow.
How to use in summer
- In the morning, press 3 to 4 drops into damp skin after a light serum and before sunscreen
- At night, layer 4 to 5 drops over your usual moisturiser as an overnight glow treatment after long days in air conditioning or sun
Why it suits summer
- Lightweight oil blend that supports barrier comfort without a waxy finish
- Works well under SPF and makeup, and helps skin look less dull after sun, salt or late nights
Step 3 – Intimate comfort when it is hot and humid
V.supple Balm
V.supple Balm is a moisturising cream for the external vulval area, created for dryness and discomfort in low oestrogen states such as menopause or postpartum, and for those who simply experience sensitivity in this area.
Summer specific tips
- Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin after showering, especially on days with tight clothing, activewear or swimming costumes
- Use before bed a few nights per week as a recovery step after hot, busy days
Why it suits summer
- Helps maintain softness and comfort in an area exposed to heat, moisture and friction
- Fragrance free and designed for sensitive, easily irritated skin
Always use externally only and follow the directions on pack. Speak with your health professional if you have ongoing symptoms, pain, discharge, itching or any concerns.
Step 4 – Scalp cool, roots supported
V.supple Follicure+
V.supple Follicure+ is a leave in scalp treatment formulated to support the appearance of fuller, denser looking hair and a more comfortable scalp environment.
Summer specific tips
- Apply once daily to clean, dry scalp, focusing on areas that feel tight, dry or where hair looks flat or sparse
- Massage for at least one minute to support micro circulation and relaxation
- Ideal after swimming or frequent washing when the scalp feels stripped
Why it suits summer
- Light, non greasy texture that does not weigh hair down
- Comforting ingredients such as aloe vera and niacinamide suit a scalp that has seen extra sun and sweat
Follicure+ is not a substitute for medical advice about hair loss or scalp conditions. If you have concerns, please speak to your doctor or dermatologist.
Step 5 – Beach to balcony body care
V.supple Nourish
Coming very soon, V.supple Nourish is a lightweight botanical body oil with jojoba, grapeseed, apricot kernel and sunflower oils, plus calming alpha bisabolol.
How to use in summer
- After a shower, pat skin dry, then apply Nourish while the skin is still slightly damp for a satin, non greasy finish
- Focus on shoulders, décolletage, arms and shins that show signs of flakiness after sun or swimming
- For an extra treat, apply a small amount to feet and heels at night and wear cotton socks to bed
Why it suits summer
- Fast absorbing dry touch technology avoids that sticky body oil feeling in hot weather
- Helps smooth the look of rough texture on arms and legs for bare skin confidence
Step 6 – Fresh underarms without heavy fragrance
V.supple Fresh Guard
V.supple Fresh Guard is a water based deodorant gel that uses Zinc Ricinoleate to trap and neutralise odour molecules without aluminium salts.
Summer specific tips
- Apply to completely dry underarms in the morning and allow a few moments to absorb before dressing
- Reapply after a swim or intense workout if needed
- Ideal if you prefer fragrance free products or have sensitive underarm skin
Why it suits summer
- Helps manage odour while allowing normal sweating
- Lightweight gel texture with a sheer, non tacky finish that works on hot days and with dark clothing
Step 7 – Hair lengths glossy, not frazzled
V.supple Argan Intensive
V.supple Argan Intensive is a silicone based argan and avocado hair serum designed to smooth frizz, add shine and provide protection during heat styling.
Summer specific tips
- Apply a small amount to mid lengths and ends of damp hair before blow drying, especially before events or nights out
- Smooth a drop or two over dry hair as a finishing serum after pool or beach days to help hair look polished again
- Avoid the root area so hair does not look flat
Why it suits summer
- Helps reduce the appearance of split ends and frizz associated with UV, salt and heat tools
- Lightweight texture suits fine hair as well as thick or curly hair
Application rituals: small pro tips
- PureLash – Apply last in your night routine so you do not rub it off while cleansing.
- Radiance+ – Press into damp skin, not dry. A light mist or a few drops of water in your palms helps it spread evenly.
- Balm – Think rice grain amount. Too much product can feel occlusive in summer.
- Nourish – Always on slightly damp skin for maximum slip with less product.
- Fresh Guard – Make sure skin is completely dry before application so the formula can form an even film.
- Argan Intensive – Start with half a pump in the palms, spread between hands, then smooth through mid lengths first before touching the ends.
3. Ask Dr Tonia: Summer skin questions

Q: Why does my skin feel more sensitive in summer as I get older
As we move through perimenopause and menopause, natural oestrogen levels fall. This can influence skin hydration and barrier function, which is why skin may feel drier, tighter or more reactive. Summer then adds extra stress through heat, UV, salt water, air conditioning and friction from clothing. Together, these factors can make skin feel less tolerant of products or fabrics that never used to be a problem.
Focusing on gentle cleansing, regular hydration and barrier supporting products can help maintain comfort. If you experience ongoing burning, itching, visible rashes or pain, it is important to speak with your doctor or dermatologist so they can assess your individual situation.
Q: Do I still need moisturiser or oil if my skin is already shiny and sweaty in hot weather
Oil and sweat are not the same as hydration. Sweat is mostly water and salt, and frequent sweating followed by cleansing can leave the skin surface dehydrated. A light emollient or facial oil such as Radiance+ helps support the barrier and reduce the feeling of tightness or dullness that appears once the shine has worn off.
In summer, many people do better with fewer steps but smarter layers. A gentle cleanser, a hydrating serum, a few drops of oil pressed into damp skin and a high quality sunscreen are often enough. If your skin is very oily, acne prone or inflamed, checking in with a skin professional or doctor is recommended.
4. The V.supple Summer Pantry
A simple glow friendly recipe
Skin care starts in the bathroom and the kitchen. This simple, colourful salad supports your topical routine with healthy fats, vitamin C and antioxidants.
Summer Peach and Berry Skin Comfort Salad

Serves 2 for lunch or 4 as a side
Ingredients
- 2 ripe yellow peaches or nectarines, sliced
- 1 cup mixed berries such as strawberries, blueberries and raspberries
- 2 cups mixed salad leaves or baby spinach
- 1 small avocado, diced
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or almonds
- 1 tablespoon hemp seeds or chia seeds
- 60 g soft goat cheese or a dairy free feta style cheese if preferred
Dressing
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
- Pinch of sea salt
- Cracked black pepper to taste

- In a large bowl, combine salad leaves, peach slices and berries
- Gently fold through avocado, nuts and seeds
- Whisk the dressing ingredients together until slightly thickened
- Drizzle over the salad just before serving and toss lightly
- Top with crumbled cheese if using
Why your skin will appreciate it
- Healthy fats from avocado, olive oil and nuts help support the skin barrier from within
- Vitamin C from berries and lemon juice supports normal collagen formation and helps protect cells from oxidative stress
- Colourful plant foods bring a broad range of phytonutrients that complement topical antioxidants such as those in Radiance+ and Nourish

5. V.supple Mixed Tape: Summer Skin Edit

Skin care is a ritual. Music turns it into a moment.
The V.supple Mixed Tape playlist on Spotify is designed to feel warm, calm and a little nostalgic, which makes it ideal for slow, intentional care time.
You can treat the playlist like a soundtrack for your Summer Skin Edit.
For a quick evening reset
Choose two or three softer tracks while you work through:
- PureLash on lashes and brows
- Radiance+ pressed into damp facial skin
- Balm as your final comfort step before bed
For a full body ritual night
Let a longer run of mellow tracks play while you:
- Massage Follicure+ into your scalp
- Apply Nourish over arms, legs and décolletage
- Finish with Argan Intensive through the mid lengths and ends of your hair
For a Sunday summer reset
Press play on the V.supple Mixed Tape, make the Summer Peach and Berry Skin Comfort Salad, then sit somewhere quiet to enjoy both music and food before you start your skin and hair ritual.
Look for songs in the V.supple Mixed Tape that feel:
- Warm, relaxed and slightly nostalgic
- Smooth, without harsh drops or aggressive beats
- Calming enough that you naturally breathe more slowly and move more gently
Those are your skin care time tracks, the ones that help your nervous system settle while your products do their work.
Tip: play the V.supple Mixed Tape from your phone or smart speaker in the bathroom or bedroom, and save a few favourite tracks to a small Skin Comfort sub playlist so you can reach for them every time you start your ritual.
